The Jewish Women’s Foundation of the Greater Palm Beaches (JWF) Young Leaders Society (YLS) is open to women ages 45 and younger living or working in the Palm Beach area who support JWF’s mission to empower women and girls through social change philanthropy and advocacy, and who wish to develop leadership skills, impact their community, and be part of a network of like-minded young women.
2018 Program Overview
YLS develops and supports young women leaders from our local community by providing educational, networking, and mentoring opportunities, as well as participation in a unique giving circle. YLS meets monthly from January to December; participants are expected to attend all program activities. Each year, JWF accepts up to 20 women to join YLS.
In the second year, each YL is paired with a seasoned mentor to offer resources and guidance, thus enhancing the overall experience of the program. Mentors and mentees will establish their own meeting and communication schedules.
Values based giving is an important form of leadership. The last three sessions are the giving circle component of the program, which provides an opportunity to learn about organizations in our local community and strategic grant making with a gender lens. Each member will contribute a minimum of $250, which will be pooled together for one local organization grant. YLS members will research potential funding opportunities and collectively decide how to use their funds.
