Program and Event Updates
On Wednesday, February 22 ‐ Winter Trustee Luncheon Meeting at Table 26. Val Stanley of The Lord’s Place was our guest speaker and the trustees voted to approve an amazing grants docket for more than $400,000 in grants to over 20 organizations in 2017.
On Monday, March 6 ‐ Inaugural meeting of our new Men as Allies initiative. The group is taking on gender roles that limit both men and women, to the gender pay gap. We applaud the men’s commitment to creating a more level playing field for women and girls, and supporting JWF. Our next meeting is scheduled for April 3 at 12:30PM. On Tuesday, March 8 ‐ Special Grants Subcommittee met in an effort to increase our national impact. JWF held a special grants meeting to select two organizations in the areas of reproductive health and political advocacy. The Subcommittee selected Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and She Should Run to each receive $10,000 for general support of their important, timely work. 2016 grantee partners, Eden Center, held the 1st National mikveh attendant conference in concert with Hadassah Hospital and Toras Hamishpacha brought together 250 mikveh attendants from all over Israel. To learn more about the conference, click here.
Grantee partners since 2015, Unchained at Last‘s efforts to end child marriage hit a homerun in March. The New Jersey senate voted 26‐5 to pass the bill they helped to write to end child marriage. Click here to learn more about similar bills across the country.
Grantee partner, Human Trafficking Pro Bono Legal Center, signed MOU with the National Disability Rights Network to prevent trafficking of persons with disabilities. To read more click here.
New 2017 grantee partners The Lord’s Place, have expressed a need for personal care products for the women of Burckle House. Please bring unopened cosmetics, lotions, creams, shampoos and other hair products to the next board meeting, trustee meeting, or you can drop them off at the JWF offices where we will collect and donate these items. Thanks to trustee Edith Gelfand for spearheading this initiative!
